In this 3-day Institute, we will explore the future of college and career pathways in alternative education in the R4 consortium with one common goal: to help our community THRIVE.

Our R4 Summer Institute will feature keynote speaker Shawn Ginwright, author, professor, and activist, as well as workshops from our partners.  Take a look at the daily agenda.

In addition to keynotes, plenaries, and workshops, we are opening up panel presentations for our R4 partners.  We are asking that EVERY R4 school have representation from staff or students on at least one panel discussion, which will all be held on the last day, Friday, June 29th.  Our partners are also invited to select a panel to join, however it is not necessary for participation.

Panel Topics for Friday, June 29th
Panel participation may be selected upon registration

  • YOUTH LEADERSHIP:  Students have always been at the center of the work that we are doing, and that is what built our foundational pillars of LIVE, LEARN, EARN, and THRIVE. This year's focus of THRIVE is not only about sustaining our pathways, but also about preparing our youth to be our next generation of leaders. In this panel, we will explore how our programs are shaping leaders for our future and hear from the leaders themselves!

  • BUILDING BRIDGES: Share your experience and best practices for creating those partnerships between R4 Consortium members (schools, CBO's, workforce, and industry).

  • READY 4 THE FUTURE: With THRIVE as the theme for our final year, this panel will invite our partners to share how they have prepared our R4 youth for success by highlighting an array of techniques used to instill the skills needed to thrive in college and/or career in the 21st Century. Additionally, this panel will emphasize the process(es) used to encourage character development, promote empowerment, and ensure they are ready for the future.

Registration deadline: Monday, June 25th at 12pm.
