Empowering Educators: Brain Sparks: Uncommon Solutions to Common Classroom Challenges

  • Martinez Unified School District Boardroom 921 Susana Street Martinez, CA, 94553 United States (map)
"A heart and science based approach to connecting with your best self in the midst of challenge... and helping students to do the same."

What can you do to help illuminate new passageways for students who  have “meltdowns” in your classroom? What can you do to help them begin to move forward, rather than staying stuck in a “fight or flight” mindset?  Or for that matter, what can you do for yourself to keep from nearing your own meltdown point? Join us as we learn brain edged and heart centered strategies  to help our students [and ourselves] better manage moments of stress and high anxiety, and to be open to change.

The last 2017-2018 FREE orkshop in ACOE's R4 Empowering Educators series is coming soon and we hope that you will join us!   This session, entitled Brain Sparks: Solutions to Common Classroom Challenges will take place on Friday, May 4th, 8:30am - 3:30pm, with an option fter the workshop Deeper ve session from 3:45pm - 4:45pm.  or more information on Deeper Dives see below!

In this workshop, we will learn WHAT is going on as our brain responds to anxiety or fear, as well as HOW to playfully engage ourselves and our students in order to move towards change, growth and transformation.

The workshop will be led by Laurel Edgecomb, MFT, PPS, who has loved working in schools for over 40 years. She runs a thriving private therapy practice and teaches Brain Educated Solution Techniques at colleges and clinics in the Bay Area.

If you are interested in participating in this very informative and strategies-based workshop, please register HERE or at www.newleafcollaborative.org, and look for the Empowering Educators link on the left side of the page to sign up.

For your attendance you will receive, as a gift of our appreciation, a stress-management tool related to the subject! Don't forget we also encourage you to bring a student with you to the workshop. Our workshops provide the opportunity for live encounters with students that generate discussions which spur collaborative creative engagement.  Students also enjoy learning how school can become more empowering for everyone! ll students will receive a $25 gift card for their participation.

AFTER THE WORKSHOP:
Immediately following the workshop, the Deeper Dive gives a chance for participants in smaller group to ore deeply integrate the content of the workshop into their real work and personal lives.  In the time right after the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to dialogue with the expert presenter in a smaller group on a more personal leve.  Our goal is provide you with multiple ways to integrate the content where it matters most to you.

In the days following the workshop, you are also invited to sign up for our FREE One-on-One "Touchstone Coaching" session (1 on 1 time with the expert or New Leaf coach) and our "Peer Learning Circles" (a 1.5 hour Zoom video conference call) 1 month after the workshop to check back in with the expert).
