Merritt College Bridge to Healthcare Careers Open House

The healthcare sector is bursting with opportunity and Merritt College is recruiting students for the Spring 2017 Bridge to Healthcare Careers. 

This program will introduce students to healthcare careers as well as give the skills to succeed in college courses. It is geared toward those 18 and over who have a high school diploma or GED, may be unemployed or laid off, or are re-entry students, veterans,
or others looking to change from a routine job to a professional career.

In this 15-week, part-time program, participants will take important life-skills classes like communications, college success, and CPR, as well as get hands-on experiences
in a wide variety of Merritt’s healthcare training programs including:

  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing
  • Radio Technician
  • Histotechnician
  • EMT
  • Dietician

Classes meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, from February 7 through May 26. 

Full tuition scholarships available with program eligibility.

Students will receive case-management styled support, lunch, and other services.  Eligible students can receive additional support through WIOA enrollment.

The Spring Bridge to Healthcare Careers is an innovative, tuition-free program targeting opportunity youth and other non-traditional student populations. The Bridge to Healthcare Careers is a collaboration between the Bay Area Workforce Collective, Oakland WDB, Alameda County Health Pipeline Partnership, Unity Council, and is funded through the San Francisco Foundation.  This innovative program provides wrap-around student support, hands-on learning, and other work-based learning opportunities.
